Introducing EVOLVE

There is an exciting initiative taking place in the heart of Digbeth, led by Aquarius, a substance misuse charity which helps to support people overcoming the harms caused by drugs, alcohol or gambling.

Aquarius is taking over the former Adam and Eve pub in Bradford Street and plans to turn it into a new social enteprise – Evolve.  Evolve at The Adam and Eve will be a social enterprise, which Aquarius describes as ‘a multi use hub that will create opportunities for young people to gain paid work alongside completing an apprenticeship in catering and hospitality’.

Having worked for many years with young people who have substance misuse issues, mental health problems or who are feeling the affect of living with an adult who does, Aquarius is only too aware of the impact that not finding supported employment has on them.

The Evolve Concept

Each year Evolve will create 20 opportunities for young people to do paid work whilst working towards an apprenticeship in hospitality with a local college.  Alongside their apprenticeship the young people will receive mentoring and a well-rounded support package from Aquarius staff.

Evolve will consist of a cafe, event and training space for community organisations to hire and a pop up restaurant space for organisations working with vulnerable groups to use.

Seeking Crowd Funding – can you help?

To help fund the initiative, Aquarius is running a Crowdfunding campaign, which includes a corporate sponsorship package, allowing businesses or social enterprises to donate money, time or skills to help Evolve get started.  In return the business or social enterprise can take advantage of use of the venue, or the skills of Aquarius’ staff.
