It is a year since Sir Albert Bore, Leader of Birmingham City Council, launched Digbeth as Birmingham’s Social Enterprise Quarter and to mark the occasion iSE (Initiative for Social Entrepreneurs) hosted another first for the Quarter – a Social Enterprise Trade Fair.
Digbeth-based social enterprises had a chance to exhibit, mingle and explore opportunities to do business together. Guests interested in the Quarter were able to find out more about the wide range of products and services on offer – from food to fabrics, coaching to craft items.
Sarah Crawley, Chief Executive of iSE and initiator of the Quarter, said: “We are very proud of what has been achieved over the past year with a little funding and, as so often in our sector, a lot of goodwill and volunteer support. Those who have actively participated have benefited enormously from closer working relationships and increased trading opportunities. We have ambitious plans for 2015 and are keen to encourage even more Digbeth-based enterprises and supporters to join us in strengthening the Quarter and building the social enterprise sector in Birmingham.”
